A Special Evening To Support Children's Literacy

I hope you can join us in Sydney to celebrate a love of reading and support children’s literacy.

Room to Read’s ‘Gifts of Reading’ event is on at The Royal Oak in Balmain, Monday 20th March, 6:30pm for 7pm start. The evening will feature Deborah AbelaTristan Bancks and myself in conversation with Paul Macdonald in the chair.

Inspired by Jennie Orchard’s Gifts of Reading anthology, we’ll talk to Paul about the gifts of reading we’ve received, the gifts we’d love to give, and the gifts of reading that Room to Read has given more than 32 million children.

Proceeds from the event will support Room to Read’s Literacy Program which empowers children around the world to become life-long, independent readers. Room to Read ‘s approach to fostering local literacy is uniquely creative - their publishing program produces books and educational materials written and illustrated by talented local creators, and published by in-country teams.

Tickets are $25 per person and the booking link is here.

If you have any friends or colleagues who might be interested, please share. And if you can’t come along but would still like to support children’s literacy in the developing world, please visit the donation page for our 2023 World Change Challenge and feel free to give a small donation.

Here is a downloadable PDF of the event flyer - please feel free to share widely!
