Fleeting - in memory of Itty

The word of the week for Illustration Friday is "fleeting".  I didn't have anything to post, until this evening my daughter's fantastic pet rat, who's been one of the family for more than three years, developed sudden dramatic pneumonia and died curled up on my knee. We didn't know for sure that he was going to die, but I think Zoe must have sensed it, because she asked if I would do a sketch of Itty as she cuddled him. So, my fleeting drawing, done in the 5 minutes I had before they moved, of a solemn six year old holding a small fleeting life in her hands - the life of a good friend that's been around for over half of her own small existence.

Itty modelled for all these rats....
