Kid's Lit Seeks Its Laureate

In the UK, the ultra-awesome Quentin Blake is the appointed Children's Laureate.  I would have given him my vote, based solely on all the long, lazy afternoons I spent mesmerised by his characters when I was small.  I wonder who will be Australia's Grand High Poobah of Kidslit?
