Are holiday sketches less boring than holiday photos?

I've just spent 2 weeks lounging around in idyllic NZ - we went back for my brother's wedding (yay, Matt and Chantelle!) and then went on a big family holiday to the Marlborough Sounds. It was pure bliss. So anyway, because I was on holiday,I actually had time to do some sketching, and I bought myself a new yummy Moleskine for the trip. And now I'm gonna inflict my sketches on you... ha ha.

Nikau stuck in the Departure Lounge...

In the plane... this is a bit wobbly cos I had to contend with two preschoolers jumping all over me, as well as quite an impressive bit of turbulence. We had a reassuring pilot who said happy things like "Please fasten your seatbelts now, as we are about to enter a Massive Storm Cell." Yay. I was scared this woman was going to wake up and catch me gawking at her too...

We stayed in a great little bach in Queen Charlotte Sound - Bythells Bay. The house was called Kohanga, which means "Gift", and it was right on the beach. It was a proper bach with resident mice and spiders, an outside loo, a log fire, a boat, a stack of trashy magazines and old books, and a cupboard full of board games - my kind of holiday. Here's the view from the verandah and Rob, my sister's bloke - he's actually having a good time here, believe it or not - concentrating on a game of Scrabble.

And here's my Mum and Dad...

And some random but very swirly NZ native foliage - yay for fern fronds!
